Electricity - Be prepared for both AC 110 Volts and 220 Volts
Currency Eschange - ATM Machines and Currency Exchange offices are readily available throughout the cities we will be staying
Internet
- There will be wireless internet available for those who bring their own laptops with small monthly fees . Also, there are many internet café around the base and in the ministry base with only exception on the island.
- Your personal laptop is welcomed. There are wireless available at the base (except the island). Furthermore, you might need laptop for taking notes and/or to process your weekly and ministry reports.
Housing Style Bedding Style: Dorm style with bunk beds.
Items to bring - Mosquito net & repellent
- Folding Umbrella or Rain Poncho
- Portable Flash Light (extra batteries)
- Moderate Swimming Suit (No Speedos or High cut suits)
- Sun Block Cream & Sun Glasses
- Caps, hat or Banderas...
- Reusable water bottle
- Comfortable Shoes (Sneakers if you want play sports with locals), Sandals (hiking style), Rubber thongs or slippers (for shower and around the house)
- Toiletries, Personal Hygiene & Glooming for men & women( hair gel, razor, dental floss,etc,..)
*** All personal hygiene items are VERY expensive. We suggest that you bring enough for the time you will stay here. - Get English –Spanish Bible if you can (Compact size – it’s quite hard to find and expensive in Colombia- around 30 + dollars)
- Bed sheets (both fitting & loose) and pillow case
- Towels (Bath & Hand) - thin and fast drying ones.
- Ziplock bags (small & large ones)
- Laundry bag
Clothes Ideas - Remember, weather in Cartagena is quite hot and humid throughout the year so the general attire is very casual.
- Casual shirts, blouses and/or T-shirts
- Kaki slacks and/or jeans (Capri pants are fine)
- Shorts and sleaveless.
- Work clothes - Ones that you don't mind getting dirty
- Ministry clothes - There will be some times you will have chance to give presentation to ministry leaders, local pastors, parents... etc. Also people are very considerate when they attend the church on Sundays.
General Guidelines for Clothes - No low cut waists on pants, jeans, or Capri pants
- No shirts exposing the midriff.
- No low cut collars on shirts.
Laundry
- There will be laundry machine on each ministry base for heavy wash. You are expected to do hand wash for your own.
